GIMME THE REMOTE - HOW TO APPLY TO CURATE A CO-STAR TAPE:
A Co-Star tape can feature a group of unseen movies: they can be united by a theme, or from the same geographic location, or by a single artist. Feature-length work is also acceptable.
No more than two new Co-Star tapes will be released each year, so we will be understandably demanding of the curators with whom we work. Co-Star curators will not only select the movies, but provide a printed context through which viewers can understand their importance/the curator's insight. This could include an essay, interviews with the artists, historical/geographical/technicalinformation. This printed information will accompany each tape in the form of a booklet or poster. You may also include additional content on the video, such as: interviews with the artists, the artist's home movies, anything.
Joanie 4 Jackie will produce, distribute and promote the tape, and the curator will receive royalties equal to those of the artists featured on the tape.
If you are interested in applying to curate a Joanie 4 Jackie Co-Star tape please send us a one-page proposal describing the works you have in mind, why they should be seen, and the context you could provide in a printed poster or booklet on video. We welcome curators of all ages and backgrounds, as well as curators working in pairs or groups.
